Roll Out the Red...Door

As you are well aware I have been behind on posts...so you'll forgive but I am bringing you a project from earlier this fall. Whenever I drive by a house with a red door I fall in love...I couldn't tell you why...I just do. And I always dreamed about being in a cute little house with a red door....finally I made those dreams come true.

After lightly sanding this drab green and wiping away the dust with a damp cloth I let the door dry.

I chose high gloss paint, a pre-mixed red from Clark and Kensington. I purchased this particular color my local Ace store. This paint includes a primer but after my fourth coat I was wishing I would have primed the old fashioned way....

Finally...the house that already had curb appeal......

Got much more appealing! I am just tickled driving up to the house now...that door just pops! The black hardware stands out so much more.  I did a little landscaping as well, which compliment nicely...I added white and red mums which will look great every fall and we can enjoy the pepper plants all year! I will have more to share in the fall as well when I our tulips com up along the front walk...I will have to save that project for another post I am afraid!

When it comes to doors do you have a favorite color? A classic red? or a cool modern look of electric purple? Tell me what you have been seeing around town that you absolutely love!

  1. My family always had a red door on our house growing up. In Chinese culture, it symbolizes good luck to those who live there.
