I am so excited...The vanity is complete! I took advantage of the morning sun and got her all dolled up for her photo shoot! I am so pleased with the final product and it was worth all the work and worry. I know what I will do differently on the next project but this one will always be special...perfectly imperfect!
You may rememeber the Vanity Drama and the work it took to rectify. Well she has come a long way baby and she is ready for her closeup! Here are some teasers to keep you interested...to see her in all her glory just keep scrolling!
I was so excited I neglected to dust the mirror...don't worry Mom, by the last shot I have got it taken care of :)
Starting from the top...the pineapple is a symbol of hospitality... You can see some of the finishing wax caked up a bit in the crevasses...I could dig it all out, but I have embraced it...I think it has kind of an antiqued finish.
I love the way the drawers cam together and I really like how the fresh white color sets off the scrolling on the spindles. Look at those legs....
These drawer pulls are so elegant..and reflective...see me in there with the camera.
I know you are all wondering if all the effort was worth it. Well my pocket book...and I am sure my husband right along with my pocket book are thanking me...here is a quick number crunch (W.O.W. style...awe yeah...)
Vanity $100.00
+
1 Quart Behr Premium Plus Ultra in Ivory Mist: 13.27
+
4 Drawer Pulls @ $1.69 a piece
-------------------------------------------------------
Grand Total: $120.02
Compare that to this Pottery Barn Vanity for $699.00...(and that is their cheapest one right now...although it is lovely and if you don't enjoy projects it may be worth it to you!)
Awe...so cute..Yes, I did just have a moment!
Tell me about a time that you have tried something new, ran into obstacles and kept going until you reached your goal! I draw inspiration from you and I would love to hear your stories! Maybe it was a new recipe, maybe you have undertaken a new workout plan, perhaps you took on the challenge of learning something new...like a new instrument, craft or hobby...Let me know your thoughts and I will see you in the comments section!
*Thank you all for your input and words of encouragement along the way with this project...it has been a labor of love for me, and hopefully the first of many!*

Ahh...it is so sparkly, and fresh...I really love this little lady and she cleans up really well! I did end up using a clear coat finish over the top surface rather than just doing the wax...partly because after the second coat of paint that went over the first poly had dried, I went to wipe a mark off and the pain came off with it... So instead I brushed on a clear protective poly...the key is VERY thin coats...I mean VERY thin! Some yellowing did happen, but I am also embracing it as contributing to the antique character of the piece.
Every girl's daily beauty regime should include a dab of french parfum... I made it personal with a silver framed wedding photo, my wedding "hair flower" a jewelry dish from my Grandmother (which I also gave as gifts to all the girls in the wedding!) and the lace is from our honeymoon In Bruges.
And finally...here she is making her online debut... But first let me give you a quick reminder of the "Before"
And now...the After....

I don't think I will have any objection waking up to this in the morning. I can get pretty each day in front of something pretty and I think that will be a great way to start the day...whether or not I will be able to bring myself to leave is the question! In reality though it's already hard to leave in the morning when this is the face watching me go...
